Cochise

I have determined several things.

First of all, I’m horrible with CSS. Cascading Style Sheets, the coolest thing since sliced bread. It’s been around for nearly 728 years, however I’m just now picking up on it. And really, I’m terrible at it. (If something becomes impossible to read here, I’ll probably figure it out eventually. Certainly everything’s going to become a little strange as I try to “tweak” things. Maybe one day all the text will even be in blue in every browser! Woo!)

I’ve been spending my nights learning all about CSS. Tonight, though, I’ve decided to throw in the towel. Next trip to Borders, I’ll buy a CSS book.

The second thing I determined is that I don’t listen to the radio enough. I was waiting for the “The” band phenom to fade away, and I knew it would - eventually. However, I nearly missed a really good song. I mean, a really good one. Audioslave’s “Cochise.”

I read somewhere that Tom Morello said the sound of the completed single reminded him of a warpath to end all warpaths, and that’s how it got it’s name. That’s neither here nor there to me. I just love the fact that I can scream to it and smile cynically while I do.

Well I’ve been watchin’
While you’ve been coughin’
I’ve been drinking life
While you’ve been nauseous
So I drink to health
While you kill yourself
And I’ve got just one thing that I can offer

Go on and save yourself
Take it out on me

Go on and save yourself

Take it out on me

I’m not a martyr,

I’m not a prophet

And I wont preach to you
But here’s a caution
You better understand
That I won’t hold your hand
But if it helps you, man
then I won’t stop it

Go on and save yourself
Take it out on me

Drown, if you want
And I’ll see you at the bottom
Where you crawl
On my skin
And put the blame on me
So you don’t feel a thing…

It gives me the chills. Between these lyrics and “Narcissus” by Alanis Morissette, I’m set. It’s funny how certain songs always remind me of certain people. And “Cochise” has now become a nickname of sorts for someone from long ago.

With a shrug,
