Miscellaneous Nothing

Melissa Etheridge’s version of “Breathe” makes me want to vomit. With all apologies to my friend Carol (Melissa’s biggest fan), what was Greenwheel thinking, anyway? Their version (the original) is so, so, so much better. Just goes to show you what a major label’s money can do for you, huh?

After watching a news clip about yet another school bus crash, I got really mad. I realize that way back in the stone age when I went to school, buses didn’t have seat belts. Hell, when I was an infant my mother used to put me in a pumpkin seat and set me on the passenger seat next to her while she drove. Safety wasn’t really on the forefront of anyone’s mind, I suppose. However, what’s up with buses without seatbelts today? One crash and you have 30 dead or injured little kids.

It’s nearly daylight savings time. This frightens me.

If you want to have a small-ish wedding and reception yet don’t want to offend anyone by not inviting them, just wait until you’re 32 to get married. It’s absolutely bizarre that so many of my family members are … well, dead. Most of my great aunts and uncles, half of my grandparents… Really, it’s almost creepy.

Of course, you have to also consider the obligatory familial rift. That also helps to keep the guest list manageable. Ten years ago I worried about it. Now I don’t muchly care. It’s a good example to learn from. I’ve promised myself I won’t be a pig-headed grudge-holder like many of my family members (both extended and immediate family), and I’ve also promised myself I won’t “take sides” like many have done. Life is too short for shit like that. Communication is the key.

When all else fails, though, ignore it. Suddenly your family is so much smaller! Less stress! Fewer Christmas presents to buy! Smaller family holidays!

Oh yeah, and there’s one more thing on my mind, but I think I’ll save that for another day. The day I get it all sorted out. Hopefully it will be soon, because I’m getting really short-tempered and impatient with Stephen, and it doesn’t have anything to do with him, really. I’ll get it worked out.

A load of nothing at all,
