Tax Nightmare

Thursday, April 15th, 2004

I had a dream last night.

I dreamt I was sitting at my desk on Tax Day, and I had several phone calls right in a row. Mrs. Client was sorry, she knows she waited until the last day, and she knows she lives 45 minutes from my office, but is there any way I could come by to pick up her 2003 IRA contribution? Mr. Client had the same emergency phone call. Could I come by (30 minutes the opposite direction) and get a check? Mr. BigTime Client also needed me to pick up a check for he and his wife. Could I come by? None of these clients had time to come by my office.

Being a sucker for a check, of course I said yes. To everyone. And I got in my car and drove all over St. Louis, picking up last-minute contribution checks.

I woke up in a cold sweat.

And when I got to my office, my phone started ringing. And lo and behold, I spent the entire day driving around St. Louis, picking up last-minute contribution checks.

::sigh::

Life is so predictable sometimes.

Happy to see the end of tax season,
michelle
