Underwear (That’s Not Fun to Wear)
Friday, October 22nd, 2004I started wearing maternity clothes this week. I can’t say I was terribly excited, but, okay, a part of me was. Except, maybe, for the underwear.
Within the last week Baby has decided to make him/herself seen a bit around my waistline. (Had to move away from the Victoria’s Secret and into the Motherhood brand. I won’t even go there.) Even the jeans that used to fit me with lots of extra room (obviously S.’s and not mine) are starting to cut me in half. I systematically went through every dress, skirt and pair of pants in my closet, and found only one skirt that still fits me well enough to be worn outside of the house. Everything else got packed away for next fall. This of course meant I finally had to go through the two big lots of maternity clothes I’d won on Eb@y. Much to my dismay I found that the majority of the jeans I’d won were XL and monstrous on me. I also found that a couple pairs of khakis were capris or petites. Eh, back to the drawing board. The shirts were all fine - some in large (which are really a bit too large for me) and some in XL, which will be auctioned off with the jeans when I get a few minutes to take pictures of them all. This nearly leaves me right where I started - in need of some maternity pants and dresses for work. I’ll use what I have, but start the hunt up again soon. I’ve been waiting for the baby to start kicking me so I can feel it, but yet so far we’ve not had “quickening.” (Why do they call it that, anyway?) I know for a fact that as soon as Baby starts kicking, I’ll be wishing it would stop - especially at 2:30am. But for right now, I’ll just be the illogical mom-to-be and wish for some kicks! It still feels weird to look in the mirror and try to suck my tummy in, and fail. The baby’s there, all right, even if I can’t feel it. ::grin:: Weird note, michelle
