What We’ve Actually Done to the House So Far:

  • Put three coats of primer on Justin’s walls

  • Painted Justin’s room - twice

  • Taped up Ryan’s room

  • Removed old carpet, tiles, and cut adhesive from main bathroom

  • Replaced towel holder and tp holder in both bathrooms

  • Painted little bathroom - twice

  • Replaced light fixtures in both bathrooms

  • Replaced faucets in both bathrooms

  • Replaced four sets of blinds

  • Removed, washed (painfully) and rehung massive set of 84″ wide blinds

  • Ironed and hung new curtains (and curtain hardware) in three rooms

  • Packed half the kitchen glasses, T’ware, pots/pans/glassware/baking pans away (must make it look as if there’s lots of storage space in house!)

  • Killed about 700 square feet of weeds in the playground area (did I mention our back yard is nearly half an acre?)

  • Stripped floor of 625 square foot deck

  • Stained entirety of two decks, with a combined 1,525 of square feet (ask Jen about that!)

  • Weeded about 100 square feet of flower gardens - twice - then mulched

  • Painted living room and hallway

  • Packed away about 50% of everything in the basement

  • Packed away over 14 boxes of books

  • Moved all boxes (plus a bunch of furniture) to my office for safe-keeping while we show the house

  • Cleaned off fridge for the first time since I bought it (picture it covered in Justin’s drawings, etc)

  • Painted big nasty trim in the basement back to brown that I’d gotten 1/4 of the way through painting green and decided painting 1/4 of back to brown was faster than painting the other 3/4 green

  • Reinstalled the closet shelving after moving a big pantry-like contraption out of it in the den

  • Washed all the woodwork in the house (which includes all the trim around the bedroom/bathroom doors) and buffed it with lemon oil

This entry just depressed me. We’ve spent nearly every waking hour on this since Jen left on August 28th. Figure 20 hours each weekend, two or three hours per evening. Man. It will never get done.

Pulling the covers over a very tired head,
